We’ve been very active for Climate Week 2012 going to plenty of events and preparing ourselves for the pinnacle of the week; The DONOPOLY Challenge!
Here’s a little summary of what we’ve been up to, and if we’ve inspired you to make a commitment to environmental action, then simply go to our DONOPOLY page to make a pledge to help us reach our 1,000 kg carbon-saving target.
On Tuesday Alisa attended the Rughlight Investor Briefing on Clean Energy in 2012 and Beyond. She particularly enjoyed the evening as it was largely focused on energy efficiency which often gets overlooked in favour of clean technologies and renewables. Although she’s now pretty clued up on energy efficiency, one thing Alisa took away from the evening was the thought that perhaps we all (government included) need to go back to school and learn a bit more about the ins & outs of the Green Deal. To the Life Size Media library we go!
It’s been a pretty busy week for Fran. On Monday she kicked off with a Climate Week lunch at the Hub Kings Cross. The lunch was focused around The DoNation and Founder Hermione Taylor’s hopes for its future. On Wednesday, she visited Business in the Community’s Responsible Business Exhibition where she met some very interesting charities and organisations (10:10, Bioregional, Social Enterprise UK to name but a few). She also got some good freebies! That evening, it was off to the Green Light Distrikt’s Energy Bar where Vantage Power gave a brlliant presentation about the electric and hybrid technologies they’ve developed for improving energy efficiency and cutting costs across the transport sector.

On Thursday, Fran headed to Hackney City Farm, along with Hermione from The DoNation and Energy Live News, to check out the new solar panels installed on the farm’s pig pen. Here Fran encountered gigantic, snorting ginger pigs and some very loud and intimidating chickens. Just another day at the office!
Emma has sadly been ill this week so couldn’t make it to any events. However, even when a little under the weather, her competitive streak remains strong and Emma’s achieved her personal best of showering in under four minutes for the ‘Shower Power’ pledge she made supporting our DONOPOLY Challenge. Not a bad effort.
Life Sizers have definitely outdone themselves with Climate Week 2012. And now, we’re preparing ourselves for the greatest challenge of them all; Saturday’s DONOPOLY Challenge! Tactics planned, our own Google Map created, Life Size Media hoodies made, and the team prop- an embarrassingly small fluffy dog similar to celebrity style handbag pooches – is at the ready.
We’ve mapped out the most efficient route and methods of low-carbon transportation to reach all the destinations on the Monopoly Board. Boris Bikes here we come! If you fancy joining us then drop us an email today. If you can’t make it, then why not GO pledge on our DONOPOLY page. Don’t leave climate action to CHANCE. Make your commitment to the community CHEST!
